increasing security settings

  1. Bring up the Internet Options by using the Run command and typing in inetcpl.cpl
  2. Click on the Privacy tab and click the Advanced button.
  3. Place a check next to Override automatic cookie handling.
  4. Under Third-party Cookies choose Block. This will block cookies from third-party advertisements that appear on the Web page you're visiting.
  5. Click the OK button.
  6. Click on the Advanced tab.
  7. In the Browsing section remove the check mark next to Enable third-party browser extensions. Many extensions like toolbars for Internet Explorer cause problems like slow loading or crash the browser.
  8. Scroll down to the Security section and place a check mark next to Empty temporary internet files folder when browser is closed. Malware loves to hang out in temporary folders so help keep things clean as possible.

delete the address bar history

  1. Click on the Tools menu.
  2. Select Internet Options.
  3. You should be presented with the General tab
  4. Click on the button marked Delete....
  5. Press Delete History....
  6. You'll receive an "Are you sure?" question. Answer yes or no.
  7. Press the Close button.
  8. Press OK.
